Virginia Beach has all of the privately-owned oceanfront property in the state of Virginia, so this is the place to come if you're looking for that beachfront home. Just don't forget to bring plenty of cash. Both north and south of the main resort strip you'll find private homes. North Virginia Beach has hundreds of older homes, most not more than a couple blocks from the ocean. To the south of the resort strip are the communites of Croatan and Sandbridge, both having plenty of more modern homes built behind the dunes.
